Leonard W. Bitant, 79, of Rotonda West died Dec. 11.

Born April 5, 1933, in Chicago to William and Bertha (Hirsch) Bitant, he moved to the Englewood area in 1998 from Roselle, Ill.

The retired electronics engineer for Siemens Corp. was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War and a member of Faith Lutheran Church and the American Legion Post No. 110 of Rotonda, the Englewood Elks Lodge and past commander of American Legion Post 1084 of Roselle, Ill.?

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Elizabeth; sons, Jeffrey of Franklin, Wis., Steven of San Antonio, Texas and Allen of Macomb, Ill.; grandchildren, Stephanie, Christopher, Jennifer, Sarah, Amelia, Marie, William, Jeanie and Julianna; nieces, Sharon, Alice and Katy; nephew, Benjamin; and two great-nieces, Olivia and Nikki. He was predeceased by his sister, Irene Bohlmann.

Visitation will be held from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday with funeral services to follow at Lemon Bay Funeral Home of Englewood.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Faith Lutheran Church of Rotonda West.
