Orion Marine Construction will open the new South Bridge on Gasparilla island to two-lane traffic Friday - a full week ahead of schedule.
"This is a special Valentine gift from Orion to all of our GIBA toll customers," said Jim Cooper, executive director of the Gasparilla island Bridge Authority. "Two-lane traffic operations will begin at the new South Bridge in mid-afternoon due to Orion's proactive scheduling and extra hard work."

The new sidewalk lights will be activated in about one month when Florida Power & Light connections will be added to the South Bridge.
